KRISTINA HERODES – travel light with TUUB

We asked few questions from the big traveller, adventure journalist, the ultimate TUUB fan Kristina Herodes.

Why do you like TUUB?

TUUB is not just a clever fashion piece that can be worn in a hundred ways. It’s got character! With a rebel soul, it does not care for the rules but rather makes its own. That’s what I love about it! I instantly connected with the character of my first TUUB, and now I own 11 of them. I wear them absolutely everywhere. One thing is for sure – I never travel without my TUUB! You have a dress, skirt, shirt, scarf, hat, and a bathing suit – all in one. Comfort is essential when travelling. Some clothes itch and wrinkle and demand your attention in many other ways. TUUB will never do that – just throw it in a bag and it will still feel like a warm hug the next time you wear it. Another thing I like about TUUB is that it looks good on any shape – it is never too tight or unsuitable for your body type. Simply toss it on and it will say: you are perfect the way you are.

When can’t you wear TUUB?

I can’t really imagine a situation in which I couldn’t wear TUUB. I have worn it to fancy cocktail parties with tons of jewellery, and even at a black-tie event, using TUUB as a top with a long skirt. At work, at conferences, on TV – anywhere. Though, I have yet to wear it to ice hole swimming.

What makes you happy?

The greatest thing in the world is discovering new things! No matter what – whether it is a hike in nature or meeting new people or challenging yourself, both emotionally and physically. Exciting things happen outside your comfort zone, which leaves you no time to worry

Kristina, you’re an exceptionally energetic, positive and amazing woman. What keeps you going? How do you do it?

It seems to me that as children, we are all full of joy and a sense of discovery, but as an adult, those feelings fade. A smart person thinks they must know everything in order to excel in anything, which means they don’t often do anything new and exciting.

I think I have managed to find the secret to never growing up; I don’t care in the slightest what others think of me and whether I look respectable enough. It feels great to take on a new challenge, try, and then find out that you completely suck at it! Only then will you know how much there is to discover and how much you can grow! This is exactly what keeps me going – if you don’t give up, you’ll eventually succeed. I get so excited, I just cannot give up and quit, that is not something I even consider. There are thousands of things in the world that you can challenge yourself with, definitely more than one can fit into a lifetime. I never have to worry about getting bored or running out of new things to try. The more you learn, the less you know – this applies to everything!

Do you have low points in life, when you don’t succeed?

Failing is a natural part of life so I try not to make a big deal out of it! Those who try may fail! This is more obvious in the physical world – those who climb, also fall. If you have the courage to do something, there will always be supporters and haters. Especially if you do something differently. It’s okay; you just have to take the criticism with humour.

Most of my friends think that a mother of three shouldn’t be this wild. I don’t agree. I may be crazy about life, but not literally – I never take unreasonable risks and don’t recommend others do so either. You have to know what to do, how to do it and test your abilities, step by step. Only then is something worth doing! In the case of extreme sports, this is how everyone acts; you cannot simply rely on good luck.

At the same time, it feels good to push the boundaries of your fears. I also think it brews courage, just like everything else you do. If you use that courage and constantly challenge yourself, you’ll soon have plenty of it. Not that it’s a necessary trait in today’s safe world, you can do without it, but it makes life much more fun, and you’ll sense the freedom as you kick your fears to the kerb!
